The Palm Springs Walk of Stars will honor legendary Pop Icon, Songwriter and Broadway Star Debbie Gibson with the 425th Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. The Star will be unveiled on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at 130 N. Palm Canyon Drive. The Star Dedication Ceremony is open to the public.
“We are very proud to honor Debbie Gibson with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars,” said Bob Alexander, President of the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
“I was first introduced to the amazing cultural Mecca that is Palm Springs through the Van Patten Family, when I was invited to speak at the late great Dick Van Patten’s Star Ceremony,” said Debbie Gibson. “I’ve been a fan ever since and it is such an honor to be among such an illustrious group of star recipients!”
Gibson’s Golden Palm Star is sponsored by Crystal Miller and the charity In Our Own Quiet Way. In addition to this distinguished honor, 2018 will have Gibson filming and promoting the sequel to Hallmark Channel’s No. 1 movie “Summer of Dreams,” mentoring the next generation through her Electric Youth Summer Music Camp at The Garry Marshall Theatre, developing the original musical “The Flunky” with collaborator Jimmy Van Patten, and touring internationally.
Debbie Gibson burst onto the music scene at 16 and instantly became the youngest artist in history to write, produce and perform a number one hit, “Foolish Beat.” She is still the youngest female and holds the Guinness Book of World Records title three decades later. Gibson has sold more than 16 million albums and has starred in 17 musicals in 17 years, from Broadway to the West End. She celebrates the 30-year anniversary of her pop career with a commemorative, retrospective 10 CD / 3 DVD box set, We Could Be Together, available on Amazon and website. From No. 1 hits and platinum albums to starring roles on stage and screen, including as a cast member of the 25th season of “Dancing with the Stars,” Gibson is a true entertainer with timeless talent and charisma.
The Palm Springs Walk of Stars, founded in 1992, has honored 424 individuals with a Golden Palm Star placed on the sidewalks of Palm Springs. Show business honorees must have made an impact worldwide in the area of show business. All other star honorees must have contributed to the charm, worldwide prominence and name recognition of Greater Palm Springs. More information available at PalmSpringsWalkofStars.com.
