Talk about “Out of the Blue!”
Gossip Cop just confirmed the news that Debbie Gibson is going the reality show route. (So it wasn’t“Only in My Dreams.”)
The Eighties pop star recently shot a TV pilot for Endemol, the people who’ve brought us such shows as “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and “Deal or No Deal.”
According to our solid source, the as-yet untitled series — produced by the team behind “The Osbournes” and “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” — will focus on Gibson working on her first studio album in nearly a decade. Already parts of the pilot were shot in New York, where the cameras followed her into a meeting with Warner Bros. execs and through the Times Square area, where she starred in a bunch of Broadway musicals including “Beauty and the Beast.”
While the show will also touch on Gibson’s recent 20–pound weight loss and her relationships with her mom/manager Diane and beau Dr. Rutledge Taylor, “the main focus will be Deborah’s musical journey and re-invention,” says the source, who adds there’s “drama” over whether she’ll go back to “Debbie,” the name she went by at the height of her fame.
While we were hoping Gibson would follow the reality model perfected by fellow Eighties starsFlavor Flav (”Flavor of Love”) and Bret Michaels (”Rock of Love”), we’ll take what we can get.

I’ll be watching for sure….
But I still kinda cringe about “reality shows”.
So happy for Deb rite now!! I mite have said it many times but GOODLUCK again! Me and all the rest of your solid fans all these years can’t wait for your comeback and this reality show of yours will pump up your return and your forthcoming mega new album. Debbie it is! That name will be buzzin!! God Bless.
It’s Joseph speaking above, not Dexter! My friend left his name on the laptop!
Yes!!!!!! our gal is back………
…uhhh no comment
Just that strongly I detest reality shows… they may be “guilty pleasures” to many, but I’m open towards animation (note: nothing from Seth McFarlane and not all cartoons are for kids…trying not to go off topic).
Can’t wait for Deb’s long awaited comeback, though unfortunately the media and junk like “The Soup” to Parez Hilton will have a field day with the reality show…
Great news hopefully the show will get pick up by a good network like vh- 1 or E!
Cant wait to get more detail
…a bit immature was I
Yes I’m aware that she did “Skating” and judged “American Juniors”.
I’m still a (closet, always been) fan and just like her for the music rather than whatever project she take.
I think the show sounds very interesting. I will check it out when it airs.
Erica
Yay! hope we get to see it over here in the UK
I think this would be very interesting! A lot of fans are going to see what the real Deborah is like and not the made up image most people still go by. The real Deborah might not be what the fans want to see. She’s not the nice good girl you all think she is.
^ true
I’d might check out an episode, that focuses on recording songs rather than “everyday stuff”, out of curiosity.
Yeah rite Shell whatever. Thanks for posting! Certainly you take time to read Deborah’s website.
uh, not another reality show on tv. What happened to good clean funny sitcoms??? Of course I’ll watch the show or at least give it a try and I’m glad see that it sounds like the show is centered around her next album rather than home drama.
Oh well, looking forward to a new album and hope that the new album is centered more around creativity and making quality music than it is about trying to earn a spot on the charts. Not that I wouldn’t want Deb to have some great “comeback”, but for me what I perceive to be quality & honest music is what I buy and am interested in.
I am with you all the way!!!!
Good Luck Deb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Point well taken Plebes. Debbie will always be known as a talented American musical artist. She will never be this bimbo-type and people I think will never forget that. That will always be her ‘mark’. I still think though that this reality show will be good for her. For new exposure. For promotion of the new album. Heck if NKOTB can do it so can Deb. Again of course we loyal fans will expect a quality album nonetheless. And a ‘current’ sound as it is what it is today. I would wish that she gets back to the top of the charts because of ALL artists (80’s or 90’s) our Debbie deserves to RETURN. She NEVER gave up making good music even if her popularity died down after EY or AIP or even if Body Mind Soul didn’t quite made the charts. But we all know, her loyal fans, that she never stopped working beyond after the ‘pop years’ and even made her way to branched into broadway. Her hard work after all these years and her love of her craft only deserve a great comeback..
I didn’t say it to be negative towards Deborah. All I was saying is some fans aren’t going to like what they see when the image doesn’t match the real person. That’s all! Take it as you want it……Deborah is no saint, so get over it.
I think it can help her to get her music out to people that don’t know who she is. It seems to me that’s what it’s really about and that’s not a bad thing. The one thing that doesn’t sit so well with me is her weight loss. Deborah is a beautiful woman with an incredible body and didn’t need to lose any weight. I wouldn’t feel bad at all if she put it back on.
Is there a plan for a world Tour ?
do you plan to visit Israel ??
I never said she was.
DEB’S REALITY SHOW IS A GREAT IDEA. IT WILL SHOW THE FANS BEHIND THE SCENE FOOTAGE OF WHAT GOES BEHIND HER CREATIVITY, HER MUSIC, THE RECORDING PROCESS , HER HEALTH & THE IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN HER LIFE. SOUNDS LIKE A T.V. HIT. I ALSO CAN’T STAND A LOT OF REALITY SHOWS, BUT THIS ONE IS A MUST SEE.
Looking forward to watching this show on tv.. will be tivo’ing it for sure. Congrats Deb!
