Yes! Been waiting for this years….
I know, you only asked for song requests… but I always thought you would sound great doing a piano driven Christmas album. Your voice really shines when you keep the production simple.
Here are some songs I would like to hear on it:
A jazzy rendition of “Go Tell it on the Mountain”
“O Little Town of Bethlehem” or “Little Town” (Amy Grant’s version of the song)
“Little Drummer Boy”
“In the Bleak Midwinter”
“The Cherry Tree Carol”
“Auld Lang Syne”
I think it would be awsome to hear Deb sing the top selling christmas songs of all time as these songs get played year in year out. It would be cool to hear completely updated fresh versions for a whole new generation as some of these have dated
White Christmas (1942) — Bing Crosby (50 million),
Silent Night (1935) — Bing Crosby (30 million)
Jingle Bells (1943) — Bing Crosby (6 million)
Do They Know Its Christmas (1984) — Band Aid (12 million)
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1949) — Gene Autry (8 million)
The Little Drummer Boy (composed originally as a Czech carol in 1941) — Harry Simeone Chorale (6 million)
And of course Sleigh Ride as Debs version is awsome
Wow so many comments. I agree with a lot of the suggestions.
Grownup Christmas List – is a great one
Breath of Heaven – I would pretty much die if Deb did this one
Mary Did You Know – Love Donny’s version
Merry Christmas with Love – Clay did it on his album. Deb would do it better.
I’m gonna say not do Sleigh Ride since she already did it.
Definintely White Christmas. Loved when you did it with Kurt Bestor a couple years back. That whole style of holiday recording like from that Christmas show would be amazing!
“What Child Is this” Also, “Joy to the World” (think: Julie Andrews style)
This is sorta weird. I heard “Sleigh Ride” over the holidays and thought to myself that I couldn’t believe you never recorded a Christmas album. Didn’t you also record an xmas song with your Dad? I think it was “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
Hi everyone! Being that it is 2010, I decided to up my digital game! Or, GET a digital game going : ) SO – look for my replies now…but pleez don’t judge if I am on and off radar cuz I have a maaajor TV pitch sched next few weeks!!! I am taking all your song suggestions to heart and will let you know how things are proceeding with that project!!! ALL LOVE…. DEB
I would love to hear you sing
1.Let the season take wings
2.Put a little holiday in your heart
3.Breathe of heaven
4.Star of Bethlehem
5.o holy night
6.Santa Baby
7.We three kings
8.Away in a manger
The rest songs you write to make some more special times for people when they hear hem.
How about Silent Night, acappella as it was intended.
Or my personal favourite Christmas song, 2000 Miles, originally by The Pretenders.
Or you could have a laugh by rocking out with a cover of The Fountains Of Wayne’s I Want An Alien For Christmas.
A Marshmallow World, Winter Wonderland, White Christmas, The Christmas Song, I’ve got my Love to Keep Me Warm, Baby it’s Cold Outside (duet), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, O Holy Night, Do you Hear What I Hear, Sleigh Ride, Silver Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Let it Snow, Santa Baby.
Deborah, i fell in love with you in the 80’s & would fall in love all over again with any album from you. I would love to hear a christmas rendition of”lost in you eyes” cant wait!
Christmas At Our House, Christmas Is A Feeling In Your Heart, A Christmas To Remember, My Christmas Card To You, Up On The Housetop, Why Couldn’t It Be Christmas Every Day?, Christmas Never Felt Like This
Debs,
This is great news – what about Little Town (a version of O little town of Bethlehem done in teh 80s by UK legend Cliff Richard) – you could do a corking version with some top Christmas percussion on top the track.
Good luck for 2010 – here’s to getting some new DG music out there !
A “Christmas with Deborah Gibson” is long over due! There are so many great traditional songs out there just waiting for a “twist ” of Deborah. Hear are some I would like to hear:
A Marshmallow World
Mistletoe and Holly
Silver Bells
The Christmas Song
Let it Snow
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
White Christmas
Winter Wonderland
I’ll be Home for Christmas
Do You Hear What I Hear
O Holy Night, Silent Night
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Santa Baby
Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Adeste Fideles
And just for fun…. Pepino, The Italian Christmas Mouse
THANK YOU a million times for doing a Christmas album. Ive been a fan since day one and have been saying a Christmas album from you would be tops!!! Any of the songs mentioned would be great. You have a unique and beautiful voice. Heck, you can sing me the phone book and it would be great!! Love you Deb!
I agree with what pattyg and others have suggested: It would be great to have many classic Chistmas songs, but also with a few new ones that you can write yourself since you are a very talented songwriter. Also a “slow” song like O holy Night or The Christmas Song with only vocals and piano would be wonderful. If there are also some “faster”songs like Jingle Bell Rock, that would make a more complete album with a lot of different styles.
I remember years ago, a garage recording of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was played on a NY radio station, featuring our Deb and her Dad as a duet. It was awesome, I would love to hear an updated version of that. The old cassettes don’t work so good anymore.
I love your original compositions so much.
But one of the most beautiful xmas songs of all time is “when the river meets the sea”. From the john denver and the muppets xmas album. I know, I know, but this song is gorgeous touching and amazing.

Hi, Deb. How about an all-you, a-cappella, “Dec The Halls.” That would be “fa-la-la-lovely.” “Silent Night,” Just you and either a piano or guitar. “Christmas Time Is Here,” Originally done by Ray Parker JR, A song that doesn’t get near the airplay it should. Another a-cappella idea, “Caroling, Caroling.” I think it’s actually called “Christmas Bells Are Ringing.” And I love the idea of “Merry Christmas, Darling.” Totally in favor of a double CD with a disc of originals and a disc of classics.
