South by Southwest 2009
Deborah was on hand at this year’s South by Southwest festival to introduce Deborah Gibson’s Electric Youth alumni, Casey Lee Smith.
Casey Lee Smith, 16, had the honor of being one of three finalists in the Country category of Session II for The John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC) for the song “Losing You.” He had the opportunity to write that song with the Grammy Nominated Guitarist Bryan Austin at the 2008 summer camp. He then recorded the song at the recording boot camp.
“I knew instantly that ‘Losing You’ was a radio hit,” said Deborah. “Casey is a songwriter who is wise beyond his years!” Below are a few photos from the event.

It was a pleasure meeting you for the 2nd time, in Austin for SXSW, the 1st time was in San Francisco. Thank you for taking the time to autograph some stuff for me. You always bring a smile to my face and your music has brightened my days for over 20 years. Thank you!
