More than 2 million viewers tuned into Syfy Saturday to watch 80’s pop music stars Tiffany and Debbie Gibson battle giant alligators and snakes.
The network’s Jan. 29 premiere of its original movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid consumed a total of 2.35 million viewers, including 737,000 adults 18-49 and 866,000 adults 25-54, according to network officials.
The movie, in which Tiffany and Gibson try to stop rampaging, steroid-filled giant gators and pythons from destroying Southern Florida, was also the best performing Syfy original movie featuring the two songbirds. Mega Python vs. Gatoroid bested Tiffany starrer Mega Piranha, which drew 2.16 million viewers last year, and Gibson’s Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, which averaged 2 million viewers in 2009, according to the network.
